In the wake of “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place” studio execs need not look beyond their own back yard to find next season’s lineup:

Hollywood and Western--Young, well-built rocker dudes in meticulously torn jeans put on and take off sunglasses, play pool and hang out with similarly clad babes who do the same. Often, they quit their telemarketing jobs and borrow money from their parents to stay home and flex.

Third Street Promenade--Young, well-built, sensitive and ethnically diverse males wear oversized sweatshirts with positive messages, put on and take off sunglasses, worry about the ozone layer and hang out with attractive, ethnically diverse, empowered womyn who do the same. Often, they go to the beach and wear bathing suits.

Inland Empire--Young, well-built technical institute graduates drive around in pickup trucks with giant tires, put on and take off sunglasses, get job-placed into faceless offices where they hang out with young, attractive women who do the same. Often, it’s hot, forcing everyone to wear skimpier clothing.

Rancho Mirage--Cute but irascible old entertainment industry execs play golf, put on and take off sunglasses and drone on about past exploits with their long-suffering wives. Often, someone elects to have cosmetic surgery.
