LAGUNA BEACH : Mayor to Chair Environment Panel
For the second consecutive year, Mayor Robert F. Gentry has been appointed to head the Committee on Environmental Quality of the League of California Cities.
The committee, which has about 85 members, deals with issues such as noise pollution, air and water quality, shoreline land-use and water distribution.
As its chairman, Gentry said he will pay attention to the concerns of Laguna Beach residents, including shoreline protection, recycling and water quality. His second term will cover 1993.
“What we do is develop policy positions on environmental issues and concerns for California cities for the purpose of lobbying the state government and local jurisdiction,” Gentry said. “I’m honored to serve the cities of California in such an important policy level role and I’m sure it will provide some very good results for the city of Laguna Beach.”
More than 450 cities throughout the state are represented on the League of California Cities.
Gentry is also a member of the National League of Cities Energy, Environment and National Resources Committee.
