Gulls Win Sixth Game In a Row

The Gulls fell behind by two goals then scored five in a row to beat Kansas City, 6-3, Tuesday for their sixth straight IHL victory.

The Gulls’ 6-0 start and six-game winning streak are team records.

The Gulls took a 1-0 lead 2:46 into the first period on a power-play goal by Robbie Nichols, his first of the year. Bob Gaudreau and Mikhail Kravets scored to give the Blades a 2-1 lead before 4,160 at Kemper Arena.

At 8:37 of the first, the Blades’ Larry DePalma was credited with a fluke goal to give Kansas City a 3-1 lead. The Gulls’ Mitch Lamoureux was attempting to bank a pass behind his own net, but the puck hit off the stick of Gull defenseman Lindy Ruff and deflected past Gull goalie Clint Malarchuk.

Peter Hankinson got his fourth goal on a rebound to make it 3-2 Kansas City after a period.

Dan Shank tied it 3-3 with his third on a power play, 41 seconds into the second period. John Anderson scored his sixth on a power play, from Hubie McDonough. Then, McDonough scored his third to give the Gulls a 5-3 lead after two periods.
