Suicide-machine inventor Jack Kevorkian suffered cuts and bruises in a crash that destroyed his car Friday.

The retired pathologist, who has assisted in the suicides of five women since June of 1990, was driving to a Cable News Network interview when his car collided with another near his home, said his attorney, Geoffrey Fieger.

The car was demolished and Kevorkian was taken to a hospital for X-rays. “I’m fine,” he said later.

Kevorkian said he didn’t know who was driving the other car or whether its occupants were injured. He was alone in his car.

Royal Oak police said their report on the accident would not be made available until Monday.

Oakland County brought murder charges against Kevorkian in the first three deaths he assisted in, but all were thrown out by judges who ruled that Michigan has no law against assisted suicide.

Kevorkian’s Michigan medical license has been suspended. He remains licensed in California.
