President Signs Measure to Protect Tropical Birds

WASHINGTON — President Bush has signed legislation aimed at protecting threatened tropical birds. The new law bans the importation of 10 of the most heavily traded wild bird species, many of which have become popular as pets. The birds come from rain forests and other natural habitats of South America, Africa and Asia.
