In response to “Herschensohn Wears His Record as Badge of Honor,” Oct. 17:
The Times clearly disagrees with the views of Bruce Herschensohn and supports his opponent for the U.S. Senate. In the news pages of The Times, therefore, Herschensohn must be portrayed as a “scowling” Machiavellian extremist whose positions are “bizarre.” That’s not journalism. It’s the media equivalent of McCarthyism.
