WITCH’S BEST FRIEND: Black cats are finally getting a break for Halloween. Gayle Roberts of the Northwood Animal Hospital says pets need less time between check-ups. So for Halloween month, she’s come up with a gimmick she thinks will help: free exams to any black cats brought in. So far, she’s had lots of takers. . . . . “We just want to get people thinking about their pets’ health,” she says. “For St. Patrick’s in March, we’ll give free exams to green birds, green iguanas, and Irish-breed dogs.”
