PRO FOOTBALL: DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Ditka Ends Weekly Media Briefings
In an apparent protest against recent media coverage, Chicago Bear Coach Mike Ditka canceled his Monday news conferences.
Bear spokesman Bryan Harlan said Ditka told him he wanted to discontinue the Monday conferences, during which he talks about the previous weekend’s games.
Harlan said Ditka plans to keep his Wednesday news conferences, which deal with the upcoming game.
Ditka apparently is still angry over what happened during his news conferences last week. He walked out after being asked why he had turned away from Jim Harbaugh on the sideline after his quarterback threw an interception.
It all stemmed from his Oct. 4 blowup on the sideline in Minnesota after Harbaugh’s pass was intercepted by Todd Scott and returned for a touchdown.
