PALMDALE : Staged Jet Crash to Test Response Teams
A simulated crash of a civilian airliner will be staged today at Palmdale’s Air Force Plant 42 to test the responses of rescue workers.
The exercise will send smoke into the sky near the facility from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and there will be firetrucks, ambulances, coroner’s officials and similar traffic on nearby roads, Air Force spokeswoman Lorraine Sadler said Wednesday.
Such exercises are required every three years by the Federal Aviation Administration, Sadler said.
