OXNARD : Wells Fargo Bank Robbed for 4th Time

Share

An Oxnard branch of Wells Fargo Bank was held up by a robber Wednesday, the fourth time the branch has been the target of robbers this year, authorities said.

The robbery occurred at noon when a man wearing black sweats, a blue nylon jacket and a white baseball cap entered the bank at 460 E. Esplanade Drive and handed a demand note to a teller, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Lee Wilcox.

The robber fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, he said.

Although the note indicated that the man was armed, witnesses did not see any weapon, FBI Special Agent Gary Auer said.

The robbery was the 83rd in Ventura County this year, Auer said.

The branch was also robbed in May, June and most recently in September.

Auer said FBI investigators believe that Wednesday’s robber is the same man responsible for an Oct. 19 robbery of a Bank of America branch on South Saviers Drive in Oxnard.
