Gil Stein, NHL president, fined the Hartford Whalers and the Chicago Blackhawks $10,000 each as a result of fighting incidents at the end of games. However, Stein said the fines against the Whalers and Blackhawks will be rescinded if there are no further such incidents involving a Hartford or Chicago player for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
