Troy Scores Early, Often to Trounce Fullerton

Rob Ruzzi rushed for 84 yards and scored two touchdowns in 16 carries to help lead Troy defeat Fullerton, 34-14, Friday night in a Freeway League game at Fullerton High.

Teammate Bryan Burchit also scored two touchdowns, one on a a 15-yard reception and the other on a 20-yard catch.

Troy scored the only points of the first half, scoring 21 points in the second quarter. Their first score came after a five-play, 57-yard drive on a 12-yard run by Ruzzi.

The Warriors added to their lead as they took their second possession of the second quarter and marched 61 yards in nine plays. Logan connected with Burchit on a 15-yard pass play, making the score 13-0, with 2:43 left in the second quarter.

It took less than two minutes for the Warriors to score again. Taking advantage of an Indian fumble, Logan connected on his second touchdown pass to Burchit, capping a three-play, 24-yard drive and giving the Warriors a 21-0 lead at the half.

Troy put the game out of reach, scoring on their first two possessions of the third quarter. The first touchdown came on a 64-yard run by Ruzzi and the second one came on a six-yard run by Hartford, making the score 34-0 at the end of the third quarter.

The Indians scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
