Schoolteacher’s Denunciation of Board Candidates
It’s hard to believe that Capistrano’s 1992 Teacher of the Year would stoop to McCarthy-like smear tactics, but that’s exactly how it looks in his Commentary denouncing four school board candidates (“Strategy Smacks of Tactics Used by the Christian Right,” Lee Watson, Oct. 26).
What have they done to deserve this vilification? Why, they’re Christians! One even has a daughter attending a private school. (Apparently paying taxes for public schools does not allow you a voice in the community anymore.)
Watson continues to attack these candidates by innuendo and misrepresentation. How sad that The Times would give him a forum for this type of anti-Christian bigotry.
