To monitor business’s pulse on politics, The Times will present Southland executives’ and business owners’ opinions about the presidential election. This is one in a series of snapshots. Name: Chull Huh Organization: Korean Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Position: General secretary Registration: None Q: Who are you going to vote for? A: I will vote for George Bush. Q: Why? A: I want to continue the current economic trends. Q: What are your concerns about the economy? A: The economy is very bad, nearly a depression, but the recent economic signs are a little bit better, and I hope that that is a process that will continue. I like him personally, and I think he has a lot of experience. You need experience to handle the economy, and I want the economy to be better next year. Q: What other issues are of importance to you? A: We need someone who will be tough on crime and who has a tough anti-drug program. I also like the way Bush handles foreign policy, both toward Korea and in general. Q: How do you think another four years with George Bush as President would affect Los Angeles? A: During the rioting he supported emergency programs, so I think his policies in the Los Angeles area were very good. He is also concerned with trade issues, which is good for Southern California. In spite of the recession, California’s trade with the Pacific Rim is growing because of good business relations with those countries. Last year, Southern California exported $28 billion worth of goods to the Pacific Rim--that’s twice as much as what was sent to Europe. In terms of trade the future is very bright under the Bush Administration.
