Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying five men involved in a series of unsolved Ventura County bank robberies in the past few months.

The first man was wearing a black long-sleeved sweat shirt and a baseball cap with “California” on it when he robbed the Channel Islands National Bank on South A Street in Oxnard on Aug. 25.

The white male is about 32 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds and has sandy hair.

Officials believe he may also be responsible for the Oct. 23 robbery of Wells Fargo Bank on Townsgate Road in Westlake Village.

Two black males robbed the Security Pacific Bank on Ventura Road in Oxnard on Oct. 6, officials said.

One is described as in his early 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.

The other is about 26 years old, 6 feet tall, weighs 155 pounds and may have a deformed left hand or arm, authorities said.

A fourth man, suspected in the Oct. 19 robbery of the Bank of America on Saviers Road in Oxnard, is described as a Latino in his late 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

Authorities believe the same man robbed the Wells Fargo Bank on Esplanade Drive in Oxnard on Oct. 28.

The fifth man is described as a Latino in his late 20s of medium build with short black hair.

He was wearing a baseball jersey with the words “49ers” written on it when he robbed the Security Pacific Bank on Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley on Sept. 4.

Ventura County has had an unprecedented number of bank robberies this year, said Gary G. Auer, FBI special agent.

However, 68 of the 83 robberies to date this year have been solved, he said.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the FBI’s Ventura office or any local law enforcement agency.
