Fight Problems, Not Each Other

Share

My first reaction was disbelief as I watched newscasts that showed African-American and Latino students fighting at North Hollywood and Hamilton high schools. If any two groups in Los Angeles should be trying to figure out ways to unite and fight common problems it’s blacks and Latinos.

The economic plight of both groups in Los Angeles is dismal. They have higher unemployment, school dropout and imprisonment rates than any other group in the city.

It’s time for black and Latino leaders to emphasize common interest rather than confrontation.
