Body Found in Angeles Forest
Hikers discovered a body Sunday off a trail in the Angeles National Forest, authorities said.
Guides from the Clear Creek Education Center “had been smelling it for days, and they finally walked off the trail to see what it was,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Angie McLaughlin. “They thought it was an animal.”
The body was wrapped in a piece of carpet, McLaughlin said. It was found about a mile west of the junction of the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest highways, the deputy said.
The age, identity and sex of the victim had not been determined Sunday evening.
