Five months after being swept in the Stanley Cup finals, the Chicago Blackhawks found a way to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Michel Goulet had three goals for his 15th hat trick as the Blackhawks defeated the Penguins, 7-2, Sunday night at Chicago, handing Pittsburgh goalie Tom Barrasso his first loss in 13 games this season.

It was the first meeting between last spring’s Stanley Cup finalists. The Penguins completed their final-round sweep on June 1 with a 6-5 victory at Chicago Stadium.

Goulet, without a goal since Oct. 10, moved into 14th place on the all-time NHL list with 514 goals, passing Hall of Famer Gil Perreault.

The loss was the second in as many nights for the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions, who fell to 11-3-2, while the Blackhawks are 5-1-2 in their last eight games.

Vancouver 6, Winnipeg 1--Greg Adams had two of the Canucks’ four goals during the third period at Vancouver.

The Canucks, who eliminated the Jets in the Smythe Division playoffs last spring by winning the final three games of their opening-round series, have defeated Winnipeg three times already this season.

Trevor Linden also had two goals for the Canucks.

“We seem to have their number,” said Ron Wilson, Vancouver assistant coach. “They seem very nervous when they play us.

“If it hadn’t been for (goaltender Rick) Tabaracci in the first period, it would have been double-figures.”

Calgary 5, Quebec 5--Gary Roberts scored his second goal with 26 seconds remaining in the third period at Quebec to help the Flames extend their unbeaten streak to five games.

The Flames were able to force a faceoff in the Quebec zone in the last 40 seconds when Nordique defenseman Alexei Gusarov iced the puck.

With their goaltender pulled for an extra attacker, the Flames won the faceoff, crowded in front of the Quebec net and Roberts put in a rebound by Stephane Fiset.

Quebec’s Joe Sakic assisted on two goals and also scored a goal.
