Former Pepperdine swingman Doug Christie, the Seattle SuperSonics No. 1 draft pick, remains unsigned and negotiations have broken down.
“I’m not going to make any more phone calls to (Seattle President) Bob Whitsitt,” said Brad Marshall, who represents Christie. “We pretty much know what his position is. There’s nothing else to talk about.”

Former Clipper center Benoit Benjamin, who once reported to training camp so overweight that he had to coat his thighs with Vaseline so they wouldn’t chafe, isn’t in good enough shape for Seattle Coach George Karl, who wants to play a running game.
“He’s in adequate shape to play five-to-seven-minute stints,” Karl said. “I don’t know if Benoit has ever played on a true running team. We’re trying to get 60-70 possessions a game. Benoit might be in good enough shape to play a slowdown game.”
