Share

Stevie Amar scored 33 points and Jason McLean hit a three-point basket to key a late Oxnard College run as the visiting Condors defeated Victor Valley, 83-78, in a men’s nonconference basketball opener Friday night.

With the score tied, 68-68, Oxnard went on a 7-0 run--started by McLean’s long shot--to take a 75-68 lead. The basket that triggered the run accounted for McLean’s only points.

Amar, a freshman, is one of three former Santa Clara High players on Oxnard’s team. The others are sophomore Tony Ziuraitis, who scored 17 points, and freshman Chris Cole, who did not play because of a jammed big toe on his right foot.
