RCA has rush-released “America’s Living in a War Zone,” by rapper Gamilah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X, obviously hoping to capitalize on the publicity generated by Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X” movie. Ice Cube, Grand Puba and Me Phi Me are featured guests on the reco d. The deal with RCA is for just the single, meaning that Shabazz, who’s worked with Big Daddy Kane, will only get a chance to make an album if this song does well. . . .

Interscope has worked out a deal to release the solo album by N.W.A. member Dr. Dre. The album had been hung up due to contract battles between Dre and N.W.A. founder Eazy-E and his Ruthless Records company. Interscope hopes to have the album out before the end of the year and will also distribute future releases on Dre’s Death Row label. . . .

N.W.A.’s first home video is in the stores Tuesday. The one-hour package features racy, “uncensored” and extended versions of certain videos, in addition to concert performances, interviews and footage of private parties.

VH-1 will premiere “The Secret Policeman’s Retro Ball” on Nov. 21. The hourlong special salutes the various high-profile Amnesty International concerts held since 1979, with performance clips including Sting, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend. The concerts also will be highlighted in two Westwood One radio specials. Original concert producer Martin Lewis hosts both the TV and radio shows. . . .

Stevie Nicks is recording her first solo album since leaving Fleetwood Mac. Glyn Johns, best known for work with the Rolling Stones, is producing. . . .

Queen Latifah--still in the running for the lead role in that movie bio of blues great Bessie Smith, though the project is in limbo while producers look for another studio to finance it--is at work on her next album. She also took time out to tape a song for “Sesame Street.” . . . The second album by Naughty by Nature, the rap group that scored big with “O.P.P.,” is due in February. . . .

KISS will be recording three Midwestern concerts over the Thanksgiving weekend for “KISS Alive III,” an album planned for late-spring release. . . . Winger is in an L.A. studio working on its third album, titled “Blind Revolution Mad,” and due for a March release. . .
