Pasadena : Vote on School Site Dec. 15
After a second public hearing on the sale of a former school site, Pasadena School Board President Elbie J. Hickambottom announced last week that the Board of Education will vote Dec. 15 on whether to sell the property to Pasadena City College as a skills center or sell it to the highest bidder.
PCC has $4 million available to purchase the property at 3081 Foothill Blvd., formerly the continuation high school. However, the site has been appraised at as much as $5.5 million. Negotiations may involve use of PCC facilities by the district students.
At Tuesday’s public hearing, PCC staff and students emphasized how a new skills center would be an asset to the community, but local residents raised concerns over potential traffic congestion and parking problems and the district’s current financial hardships.
