Steffi Graf wasn’t talking as if she had won her fourth tournament in a row--the $350,000 Virginia Slims of Philadelphia.

Too many errors and bad first serves, she said. Not enough time at the net. Points she couldn’t finish off.

But win she did, beating Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, in Sunday’s final to earn $70,000.

“It was enough to win the match, but it wasn’t anything spectacular, not at all,” said the 23-year-old German who is ranked second in the world behind Monica Seles.

Graf moves into this week’s year-ending Virginia Slims Championships at Madison Square Garden as the hottest player on the tour right now. She has won eight events in 1992, including Wimbledon.

Marc Rosset of Switzerland, the Olympic gold medalist, won his first ATP tournament in two years by breaking service four times and beating Carl-Uwe Steeb of Germany, 6-2, 6-2, in the final of the Kremlin Cup at Moscow. Rosset, who had five aces, collected $45,000 from a purse of $348,000.

Richard Krajicek’s power overcame the finesse game of Mark Woodforde in a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the European Community Championship final at Antwerp, Belgium.
