Tamura Unit Moves to Temecula: Tamura Corp. of America, a manufacturer of electronic components with annual sales of $800 million, has moved its sales and shipping center from Carson to Temecula.

The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Tamura Corp., each day manufactures 1 million transformers used in telephones and facsimile machines, said William Dull, chief executive officer of the American headquarters.

Tamura signed a 10-year, $1.8-million lease to expand the company’s warehouse space from 13,600 square feet to 43,000 square feet.

Tamura employs 35 workers at the Temecula sales and distribution center, the same number as the former Carson operation. Half of the operation’s employees relocated to the new site, Dull said. Eventually, the company hopes to use the site to manufacture electronic parts and to grow to about 50 employees, he said.
