More than 150 students from St. Paul’s Lutheran School said goodby Tuesday to Helen Muller, a retiring librarian from the North Hollywood Regional Library.

To honor Muller for her dedication, schoolchildren on Tuesday presented her with seven books filled with pages made by the students.

“I know all these children quite well so to see them all gathered together was one of the most memorable and exciting things I’ve ever seen,” Muller said.

Muller has been a librarian for more than 40 years and joined the staff of the North Hollywood Regional Library in 1976.

She plans to formally retire in January, but will continue to volunteer several times a week at the library until her position can be filled when a city hiring freeze is lifted.

The library is at 5211 Tujunga Ave.
