Nicholls Leads CSUN Women to 11th Straight Volleyball Win
Nancy Nicholls had a match-high 14 kills and a .650 hitting percentage, and teammate Missy Clements added 11 kills to power the visiting Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team to a 15-8, 15-10, 15-10 nonconference victory Friday over the University of San Diego.
The win was the 11th in a row for the Matadors (26-7)--tying their longest streak since the program moved to the NCAA Division I level in 1990--and their 16th in the last 17 matches.
Nicholls, a 6-foot senior middle blocker from Cleveland High, also had 10 digs and a match-high six blocks. She moved into third place on the school’s all-time list for digs with 1,007.
Shelly Swalec, a senior outside hitter, had six kills with a .375 hitting percentage, 12 digs and five blocks for Northridge, ranked ninth in the West region.
