Dogs to Be Muzzled, Tattooed Over Attack

OAKLAND — A local hearing officer has determined that seven dogs that attacked a postal carrier should be muzzled and tattooed as being vicious.
Carrier Yu Ling Kung said the dogs bit her 28 times after she delivered mail Sept. 26.
The seven Labrador-mix dogs belong to Anna Caruso, who contends that Kung provoked the attack because she kept waving mail packets over her head. Caruso told hearing officer Larry Carroll that Kung grabbed her and knocked her down when she asked Kung to stop waving her arms. The dogs, the owner said, were trying to protect her.
Kung’s medical bills have reached $5,000, according to her attorney, Michael Goforth.
“She still walks with a cane, and emotionally she’ll never be the same,” the lawyer said.
