OAK GLEN--Get a glimpse of 19th-Century pioneer living at the third annual Thanksgiving Frontier Rendezvous, Wednesday through next Sunday at Los Rios Ranch. Folks in period dress fill more than 100 recreated encampments in the apple farm’s main park, demonstrating such activities as candlemaking, blacksmithing and tomahawk throwing. Vendors sell pioneer wares; food booths feature apple goodies and other munchies, and hayrides are offered. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Free. GEYSERVILLE--A wide array of crafts and fine arts are featured at the 18th annual Hollyberry Fair, Friday through next Sunday at Trentadue Winery, 19170 Geyserville Ave. Entertainment includes Scottish dancers, Cajun music and a storyteller. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. LAKE ARROWHEAD--Yuletide festivities with the flavor of old England are featured at the 10th annual Dickens Christmas Celebration in Lake Arrowhead Village and the Hilton Resort. Holiday events are hosted 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 20, beginning next weekend. Among the free offerings: performances of scenes from Dickens plays, music by carolers and brass quintets, visits with Santa Claus, horse and carriage rides and an electric-train display. At 3 p.m. this Saturday, a parade from the Hilton Resort kicks off the celebration, followed by a community Christmas-tree lighting and program. SAN DIEGO--Holiday traditions from around the globe are showcased at the 15th annual Christmas on the Prado in Balboa Park, Dec. 4-5. More than 20 museums and cultural organizations open their doors at 5 p.m. both nights to offer free special entertainment, displays, ethnic foods and gift items. Among the highlights: the Swedish Santa Lucia procession at 6 and 8 p.m. both nights at the Museum of Man; music by the University of California-San Diego Gospel Choir at the Museum of Photographic Arts, and Mexican folk dancing at the Spanish Village Art Center. FT. BRAGG--Flatbeds, big rigs and pickups take center stage in the Lighted Truck Parade, 7 p.m. Dec. 5 on Main Street. The procession will be preceded at 6 p.m. by a program of English and Spanish carols and the lighting of Ft. Bragg’s Christmas tree.
