Keeping Score

Your Italian opera story (“Nights at the Opera,” Oct. 4) captured so well the flavor of Italian opera houses and opera going. Unfortunately, in listing the telephone numbers for the various opera houses, the 0 at the beginning of the local area codes has been mistakenly included and thus--as given--the numbers will not work from abroad.

Your opera-loving readers might also like to know that Turin’s Teatro Regio will open its season with a real rarity--Massenet’s “Esclarmonde”--and that it promises stunning scenic effects. The dates are Nov. 24, 26, 28 and 29 and Dec. 1 and 2. The theater suggests that any orders be sent as soon as possible, preferably by fax.
