UC Irvine and Pepperdine Play Exhibition Games
UC Irvine will play the Lafayette Hustlers in a basketball exhibition at 7:30 tonight in the Bren Center. Pepperdine also will play an exhibition, facing the Russian National Select team at 2 p.m. today at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
Irvine’s lineup includes Lloyd Mumford, a junior point guard who transferred from Villanova and will be playing his first game as an Anteater. The other guard is Keith Stewart, a senior who played at Marquette and Purdue and started 10 games for Irvine last season. Jeff Von Lutzow probably will be joined by Elzie Love at forward and Dee Boyer is the center.
The Russians will provide the competition in the final exhibition for the Waves, who will open their regular season Dec. 1 at Texas Tech. Pepperdine scored a 106-94 double-overtime victory last Thursday over the Hustlers.
