From Staff and Wire Reports

Again, the resolve of the Kings (14-6-2) will be tested during the absence of high-scoring right wing Tomas Sandstrom.

Sandstrom, who suffered a broken left forearm after being slashed by Toronto center Doug Gilmour on Saturday, will be sidelined from four to six weeks.

He joins three other players on the growing injury list--Wayne Gretzky (herniated thoracic disk) is sidelined indefinitely, right wing Dave Taylor (concussion) might be sidelined for another week and defenseman Darryl Sydor suffered a strained left shoulder late in Saturday’s game.

Sandstrom has 12 goals and 31 points.

Gilmour said Sunday on a flight to Toronto that he expected to be suspended “because the guy was injured badly.” If Gilmour is disciplined, it will be for non-game days only under new NHL rules.
