Albertson’s Inc. posted record sales and profit in the third quarter.

The regional supermarket chain reported earnings of $71.5 million, or 54 cents a share, up 20.1% from the $59.5 million, or 45 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

Albertson’s said pricing and promotional strategies as well as increases in non-food sales helped it achieve the stronger earnings, which were in line with expectations. Sales of $2.6 billion were up 21.4% from last year’s $2.1 billion.
