SEPULVEDA BASIN : Council Urged to Approve Parks Anti-Crime Curfew
Los Angeles parks commissioners took the unusual step Monday of calling for amendments to city law to permit permanent early closure of several Sepulveda Basin recreation areas afflicted by drugs, lewd conduct and transient problems.
Monday’s action, if ratified by the City Council, would enact a sunset to sunrise curfew at the 80-acre Woodley Park, the popular Woodley flight field for model airplanes, and the 40-acre Sepulveda Wildlife Reserve, and close access roads to Lake Balboa Park during the same hours. City law authorizes parks to be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
