Man Charged With 2 Murders
An Anaheim man was charged Wednesday with two counts of murder in the deaths of his co-worker’s two roommates in Glendale early Monday morning, authorities said.
Investigators said they still do not know exactly why Marvin Edward Johnson III, 19, allegedly stabbed Jerry Shane Morgan, 22, and Thomas Lee Patrick, 20, after spending a couple of hours with them in their apartment on the 1100 block of Allen Avenue.
Drugs or gangs do not appear to have been involved, Glendale Police Investigator Larry Cobb said.
Johnson worked as an assistant at a Santa Ana law firm with the victims’ 25-year old roommate, Steven Bryan, who arrived home from work while the violence was occurring.
Police allege that Johnson stabbed Morgan repeatedly, while Patrick fled down the street. Then, Johnson chased Patrick down the block and stabbed him before fleeing in a purple Dodge Shadow car.
Neither Morgan nor Patrick were armed. Both died of multiple stab wounds.
Johnson, who was charged in Glendale Municipal Court, was arrested when he drove the car by the scene of the crime. Cobb said that investigators do not believe that Bryan was involved.
