‘Games,’ ‘Brenda Starr’ Make Their Premiere

What’s New on Video: Among new releases:

“Patriot Games” (Paramount, no list price): A violent, slam-bang action-adventure movie--all well-staged action and little characterization--with Harrison Ford as author Tom Clancy’s hero Jack Ryan, who’s being stalked by an Irish terrorist (Sean Bean) out to avenge the killing of his brother.

“Brenda Starr” (Columbia TriStar, no set price): Skip this jumbled mess of a movie--trashed by critics and ignored by moviegoers--about the comic-strip heroine, ineptly portrayed by Brooke Shields. An attempt at amusing camp that’s numbingly unfunny.

Upcoming on Video: Just announced: MCA/Universal is releasing the comedy “Death Becomes Her,” co-starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, on Feb. 10. The thriller “Unlawful Entry,” with Ray Liotta and Kurt Russell, is due out Feb. 3.
