FILLMORE : City Reduces Fees for Film Permits
Hoping to attract more business, the Fillmore Film Commission has substantially lowered the fees it charges to film companies.
A fee-restructuring resolution was approved by the City Council at this week’s meeting. City Clerk Noreen Withers--a member of the Film Commission--said the changes were needed to “streamline the process.”
“The old process became a bit cumbersome for location scouts,” Withers said. “By the time we told them what all of the separate fees were, it just took a lot of time and it turned them off.”
New fees call for a $600 charge for the first day and $250 per day thereafter. The old fee was $500 per day. Processing charges will change from $50 hourly to a $100 flat fee.
The seven-member commission oversees the issuing of filming permits. Withers said Fillmore receives about two requests a month to film movies and commercials in the city.
