Fresno State Cruises Against Texas El Paso : WAC: The Bulldogs get 537 yards of offense and prepare for the Freedom Bowl with a 43-18 rout.
Trent Dilfer passed for 243 yards and two touchdowns Saturday night as Fresno State defeated Texas El Paso, 43-18, in a Western Athletic Conference game.
Fresno State, which finished the regular season 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the WAC, will play in the Freedom Bowl against USC Dec. 29 at Anaheim Stadium.
Texas El Paso finished the season 1-10 and 1-7.
Dilfer, a sophomore, completed 12 of 21 passes and played sparingly in the second half.
The Bulldogs were also impressive running the ball, gaining 280 of their 537 yards on the ground.
Anthony Daigle ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and Ron Rivers had 88 yards and a touchdown.
Daigle’s first touchdown came late in the first quarter and gave Fresno State a 22-0 lead.
Texas El Paso scored midway through the second quarter on a one-yard run by Bo Miles. The Miners scored twice in the second half, but missed conversions after all three of their touchdowns.
