OUTLOOK

The bottom fell out quickly last season. After an 8-4 preseason, the Panthers were winless in league play. “We were only blown out twice,” Bossenmeyer said. “We lost a couple games by two points and the rest by seven or less. We’ve tried to make the kids realize the fine line between winning and losing.” The juniors on the team should know it by now. As freshmen, they went 20-0, and many were on the junior varsity that went 18-3 and won the league title last season. “They do know how to win,” Bossenmeyer said. “But we want them to know that what they did as freshmen and last year doesn’t mean a thing unless they do it in the big show.” There’s a good chance of that happening. The Panthers will use several players between 6-2 and 6-4, which should create matchup problems. Harris was the team’s top scorer last season, averaging 10.9 points. He will be up there again, but the Panthers won’t depend on him alone. “We’ll be posting up our perimeter shooters and letting our inside guys shoot from the perimeter,” Bossenmeyer said. “We won’t have one dominant scorer, but everyone will chip in.” Worthem, who has exceptional leaping ability, has beefed up, adding 20 pounds.
