The Washington Bullets handed the Milwaukee Bucks a healthy dose of reality Thursday night.

Harvey Grant, who almost missed the game because of a stomach virus, scored 24 points as the Bullets ended the Bucks’ four-game winning streak and dealt Milwaukee its first lopsided loss of the season, 113-95, at Landover, Md.

“That was the first game of the year that we were outplayed energy-wise by the other team,” Milwaukee Coach Mike Dunleavy said. “We were bad. We turned the ball over 28 times. There were so many times that we had fast-break opportunities that we missed, then they got an easy basket.”

The Bucks, whose 10-3 record going into the game matched Portland’s as the best in the NBA, scored only 37 points in the second half. Their three previous losses were by a total of 15 points.

Michael Adams scored 19 points and Tom Gugliotta had 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Bullets, who are 5-1 at the Capital Centre and 1-7 on the road.

Rookie Todd Day scored 19 points for Milwaukee, 17 in the second quarter.

Cleveland 100, New York 90--Mark Price scored 25 points before leaving because of a bruised hip and the Cavaliers limited Patrick Ewing to three points in the second half at Richfield, Ohio.

The Cavaliers won for the sixth consecutive time against the Knicks, who have not won in their last 11 trips to Richfield since 1987.

Cleveland did not lead until Price hit two jumpers and Mike Sanders made a layup for a 58-57 advantage with 9:18 left in the third quarter. The Cavaliers increased the lead to seven before New York got back to within two points on Charles Smith’s jumper with 9:28 to play.

Cleveland scored the next seven points on a layup by Craig Ehlo, a jumper by Terrell Brandon and a three-pointer by Danny Ferry to take an 87-78 lead with eight minutes to play.

Utah 110, Minnesota 91--Jeff Malone scored 19 points and the Jazz beat the Timberwolves at Salt Lake City.

The Jazz, which had an NBA-best record of 37-4 at home last season, won its second consecutive home game after losing four of its first five this season.

Karl Malone had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz.

Doug West and Chuck Person scored 16 apiece for Minnesota.

Seattle 125, Dallas 108--Shawn Kemp scored 17 points and the SuperSonics survived a fourth-quarter rally to win at Seattle.

The SuperSonics led, 99-68, after three quarters before the Mavericks, 1-11 this season, scored 40 points in the fourth.

Tracy Moore scored 17 of his 20 points in the final quarter, but Dallas could get no closer than 11 points.
