Norway’s Jan Einar Thorsen mastered a tricky course at Val D’Isere, France, to win the season’s first men’s super-G.
Four of the first seven racers fell, including favorites Marc Girardelli of Luxembourg and Kjetil Andre Aamodt of Norway, the Olympic super-G champion, because of falling snow and poor visibility.
Thorsen skied the 1 1/2-mile course in 1 minute 16.03 seconds.
