PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Everett Says His Climb Has Been Assisted

Jim Everett credited his teammates and his quarterback coach, Ted Tollner, for assisting his rise back to the top echelon of the NFL’s statistical rankings after a two-year downturn.

Everett, who threw for three touchdowns and 342 yards in last Sunday night’s comeback victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has completed a personal-best 59.8% of his passes, thrown 19 for touchdowns (compared to 11 last season) and had 11 passes intercepted (compared to 20 last season).

Everett’s quarterback rating of 87.4 is his highest this late in the season since 1989, when he threw for a club-record 4,310 yards.

“A lot of people had a lot of fine efforts to help me have the numbers I had,” Everett said. “But I’ll take some of the credit.”

From the Week 1, four-interception showing against the Buffalo Bills, Everett has played consistently enough to draw some Pro Bowl consideration.

“There’s a few games, like the Buffalo game, I wish we didn’t have,” Everett said. “Other than that, I feel like my play’s been pretty solid, and hopefully I’ll continue it these last three games.”

Last season, Everett completed 56.5% of his passes and had a rating of 68.9.

“Jim Everett’s been playing just great football for us,” Ram Coach Chuck Knox said. “He’s been making the throws, he’s stayed in the pocket, he’s done everything you could ask a quarterback to do.”
