VILLA PARK : Santa Claus to Tour City Streets Saturday

Share

Santa is coming to Villa Park on Saturday for the city’s annual Christmas parade.

“It’s not a parade with floats and such,” said City Clerk Kaysene Miller. “It’s Santa riding on a fire truck throughout the city.”

Santa’s helpers this year will include members of the City Council, who will help pass out candy to children as the fire truck winds through city streets.

A police escort will accompany Santa with sirens blaring, and taped Christmas music will be pumped from the fire truck’s loudspeaker.

“It makes quite a noise, so all the children know when to come out of their homes,” Miller said.

Santa will also listen to children’s Christmas wishes as he moves along the route of the parade, which begins at City Hall at 8 a.m. If it rains, the parade will be postponed until Dec. 19, Miller said.

In the event that Santa does not reach all the city’s neighborhoods before dark, he will be at City Hall, 17855 Santiago Blvd., from 5 to 6 p.m.
