WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Easterly, Leslie Lead USC Rout

USC scored its first victory over Cal State Long Beach since 1986 in a big way, rolling to a 101-48 victory Thursday night at USC’s Lyon Center.
Joni Easterly was the high scorer for the 16th-ranked Trojans with 25 points, 18 in the second half. Lisa Leslie added 24 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots.
USC (2-1) had lost seven games in a row to Long Beach, but the 49ers (1-3) were outclassed from the start. USC had runs of 11-0 and 10-0 in the first half and led at halftime, 50-18.
Melissa Gower and Neisha Williams had 10 points each off the bench for Long Beach, which made only 20 of 61 shots (32.8%). USC made 44 of 91 shots (48.4%).
The 49ers committed 39 turnovers to 16 for USC.
