Tom and Roseanne

In response to “A Simple Matter of Clout,” Rick Du Brow’s report on Tom Arnold and his new ABC series (Nov. 29):

Tom Arnold is my friend. Well, I don’t actually know Tom Arnold, but most of the people I am friends with are like him. They are fun to be around. They speak their mind, and they love their companion. The only way that they are different is they don’t have people they don’t know judging them.

Roseanne and Tom Arnold are paraded through the media as power-hungry and obnoxious “stars,” but I see two people who have lived the American Dream and are relying only on themselves to make it last. More people should have that ambition.

I, for one, am looking forward to “The Jackie Thomas Show” and hope that it brightens my night the way that “Roseanne” does. I hope that Tom Arnold reaps the success he deserves.
