After a two-month investigation that began with the discovery of a human skull in a remote area outside Simi Valley, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two men on suspicion of killing a Los Angeles man who was reported missing in 1986.

Anthony Adams, 28, of Littlerock, Calif., was arrested Tuesday at his house and is being held at Ventura County Jail on $251,000 bail, authorities said. He is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Alan Abraham, 30, of Oceanside, was arrested Wednesday at his house and is being held at Ventura County Jail on $250,000 bail, authorities said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

The two men were acquaintances of Christopher Landry, whose skull was found by a rancher off Black Canyon Road outside Simi Valley about two months ago, Sgt. Pat Buckley said.

Landry’s remains were identified through dental records about a month ago, Buckley said.

He was shot several times with a 9-millimeter pistol, and investigators think the slaying was planned, Buckley said.

Buckley declined to comment on a motive for the killing. Informants led investigators to the suspects, he said.

Landry, who now would be 27, was working in the meat department at a supermarket when he disappeared six years ago, Buckley said.

“He went to work one day, and he finished his shift, and then didn’t show up for work later,” Buckley said. “No one ever saw him again.”
