Harman Wins Seats on 2 Key Panels

Freshman Rep. Jane Harman (D-Marina del Rey) has been named to the House Armed Services Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee.
Harman, elected last month in a coastal district stretching from Venice to San Pedro, said she pursued the committee assignments because they are key positions from which she can help her district’s aerospace industry adjust to a peacetime economy.
“This is such an important first step,” Harman said after the assignments were announced late last week. “We got both the assignments we were hoping for.”
