UAW Workers Vote to Challenge McDonnell Management: McDonnell Douglas workers in Long Beach represented by the United Auto Workers voted to authorize local union leaders to attempt unseating company management. The resolution authorized UAW Local 148 leaders to discuss a “fundamental restructuring” of the company with management and failing that to “effect a change in management.” A Local 148 official said the resolution was passed on voice vote of about 100 members at two meetings. The local has 13,008 members. A McDonnell spokesman declined comment pending further details.
