Land Swap Is Good Deal
Opponents of the proposed Ahmanson Ranch project are bemoaning a loss of open space that would be “lost” if homes and two golf courses are built. But they are clinging to private open space, to which they have no right.
This proposal would provide some 10,000 acres of land that would truly be public open space.
Private open space, which is what exists now, is of little use to me as a citizen. But the thousands of acres of public open space that would be acquired if this land exchange is executed would have a most positive impact on the public.
I also believe that a golf course is a good method of providing green space without taking land off the tax rolls.
