WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Rutgers Defeats UCLA, 71-56
Caroline DeRoose scored 26 points to lead Rutgers past UCLA, 71-56, in a nonconference women’s basketball game at the Louis Brown Athletic Center on Sunday.
DeRoose scored 10 points during an 18-5 run late in the first half as the Lady Knights pulled away.
UCLA (1-3) trailed at halftime, 38-22, after shooting only 27% (nine for 33). Rutgers (3-2) shot 55% (15 for 27) during the half.
The Bruins were led by Michelle Palmisano’s 14 points and seven rebounds. Allison Arredondo added 12 points.
