Haley Treasures: The estate of author Alex Haley has discovered a two-page letter from Malcolm X to Haley, written just months before the Black Muslim leader was assassinated. The letter apparently was written while Malcolm X was on his way to Mecca. Also found was Haley’s 12-page, handwritten synopsis for “Roots: The Saga of an American Family.” The items were discovered in a house Haley owned in Clinton, Tenn.
